1942 – 2021

The family announces with sorrow the passing of Michael on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the age of 79, with family by his side. Son of the late Salvatore and the late Michelina (nee Seminaroti). Beloved husband to Helen (nee Beaton). Proud father to Dana, Michelle and Shannon (Calvin Newall). Devoted grandfather to Michael, Finlay and Grayson. Dear brother to Jack (Bev), Mario (Judy) and the late Saverio. Missed by his brother-in-law Joseph Beaton (Mary) and the late Raymond Beaton (Genevieve). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family, friends and former colleagues.

He was a proud member and dedicated leader of the United Association, Union of Plumbers, Fitters, Welders, & Service Techs for over 50 years. He served first as Business Manager of Local 800 in Sudbury for nearly two decades and then as one of its International Representatives in Ontario, until his retirement in 2010.Mike was deeply respected by his members and colleagues for his ability to lead with vision and fairness. He was an active member in his community and a friend to all. He was a source of fun and laughter. He provided his family with an amazing life, full of opportunities. They will miss his cooking, his funny nuggets of wisdom, his endless energy and his ‘get it done yesterday’ attitude. He can rest now knowing that his impact will be felt for years to come. The family would like to thank the Home Area 3 staff of the Elizabeth Centre, for the friendship and care they devoted to Mike for the four years it was his home. A special acknowledgment goes to his dearest family friend Luanne Chartrand, whom the family thanks for the constant love, care and devotion to him during both his time there and to his family over five decades.

Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury. Donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
