Greene, Muriel (née Richer) 1944-2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Muriel on November 2, 2021. She leaves behind her legacy with her children Diane (Steve), Victor (Tammy), Darren (Nancy), and Tim (Tanya). She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Shawn, Miranda, Shawn, Jeff, Jessica, Steve Jr., Scott, Mackenzie, and Tanis. Her greatest joys of all were her great- granddaughters Isabel and Autumn, and the newest addition Dalan.
Muriel struggled with complications brought on by lung cancer after her diagnosis this past summer. Like the woman she was, she remained feisty every step of the way. She loved her family and friends dearly and enjoyed cooking, baking for them. She was also a great event organizer; from Bingos, card nights, yard sales and barbeques, she brought joy to those living in her apartment block. She made many good friends in the 30+ years she lived there, and sadly some have come and gone. For many years she volunteered at the local food bank, making sure people had food and clothes to get them through. Without doubt, she had a giving heart. She was a daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and whichever role she played in each of our lives, she did it with love and kindness.
The family would like to thank her friends who provided meals and comfort. Thank you to her homecare team who helped with tasks and companionship, especially to Bridget who we could count on and who Muriel became quite fond of. Thank you to her shared care team which included Nurse Practitioner Karen, Dr. T, Joan the volunteer from Hospice and Stacy from Bayshore.
Although Muriel was not always the ideal patient, in her own way she appreciated the care, time and effort you all committed to in her journey. It is people like you that make this process a little easier. God bless you all.
