Noella Cheaney (Patry)
December 25, 1932- July 23, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Noella Cheaney at Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 92 years. Noella was the beloved wife of Burton for 71 years and was the loving mother of Anna, Allan (Michele Smith) and Linda. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kelly Dixon (Greg Banks), Tina, Charlotte (Mike O’Donnell), Robby (Laura Haight) and by her great grandchildren Oceana Roosjen and Preston Webdale. She was the daughter of the late Felix Patry and the late Anna Patry (Tessier). Predeceased by her siblings Cora Pharand (Osias), Lionel Patry (Patricia), Marie Cook (Arthur), Bella Bourgeault (Eugene), Rita Patry her twin and Simone Turpin (Ron).
Noella will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. They always made a special effort to keep in touch no matter the distance between them. Noella will be missed by a special family, Carol (Maki) and Quentin Seeley and their thoughtful family.
Noella will be remembered for her many talents. She was a seamstress that welcomed any challenges. She sometimes altered last minute wedding dresses by stressed brides to be. She volunteered for the CWL of St. Kevin’s Church in many different capacities. Noella was always learning new crafts and became very proficient with everything she attempted. In her later years she painted many beautiful scenes. Winter scenes and trees were her favorite. Noella’s paintings hang on many walls of family and friends. Noella loved travelling with Burt on Princess Cruises. She travelled with her daughters to many Caribbean Islands and loved visiting Allan and his family in Victoria.
She will be greatly missed by lifelong friends Lois Cooke and Diane Dunlop.
The family would like to thank the nurses and PSW’s from Ontario Health at Home for the care they provided Noella. A special thanks to Lisa Turpin, Sara Peterson and Emilie Gatien.
Thank you to the staff in the emergency department at Health Science North for the care they showed Noella.
