It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Ewald Carroll Jr. (86 years) on May 16, 2026. Born on August 6, 1939, Paul passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
Beloved husband of Monique (née Collin), with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, years marked by commitment and a deep dedication to one another through life’s ups and downs.
He was the cherished son of Paul and Annie (née Bowman) Carroll, both predeceased. Paul was a dear brother to Joan Musson (late Martin), Pat Weber (late Jon), and late William.
Paul will be lovingly remembered by his children: Michael (Ginette), Catherine (Rob Carriere), and Matthew (Cody). He was a proud grandfather of Reagan (Cameron), Gillian, Lauren, Emily, Ryan, Brady, and Olivia, and a delighted great-grandfather to Blakely, Noah, and Bryson. He will also be fondly remembered by his many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Paul began his post-secondary studies at McMaster University and later completed his degree in Philosophy through night school at Laurentian University, a reflection of his perseverance and lifelong commitment to learning.
He spent some time in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a radio technician before returning home and embarking on a long and fulfilling career as a programmer with Falconbridge, retiring in 1998. Outside of his professional life, he was known for his remarkable ability to fix or build just about anything. He took great pride in working with his hands, and no home renovation project was ever beyond his grasp.
Paul will be fondly remembered for his jovial laugh, warm spirit, and wonderfully corny sense of humour that brought smiles (and groans) to those around him. His easygoing nature and humour made time spent with him a pleasure.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the health care professionals who supported Paul during his declining health. Also, to the staff and residents at St. Joseph’s Villa for making these past two years more comfortable for him.
A celebration of Paul’s life will take place on May 24th, 2026 at his home from 3-7 p.m. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
Paul’s legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the many memories they will cherish forever. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts or PetSave Sudbury would be appreciated.
