Jalbert, Pauline (née Morin) (1947-2025)
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Pauline Jalbert in Sudbury, on Tuesday, July 08th 2025, at the age of 77. Daughter of the late Joseph Morin and the late Gabrielle Plante. Wife of the late Wayne Jalbert. Dear mother of Lize Jalbert (Chris Polowski). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandsons Connor and Adrian.
Survived by her sisters Louise Lefebvre (Léo) and Dora Clément (Jean). Predeceased by her sisters Thérèse Lalonde (late Paul), Françoise Chamberland (late Roland), Aurore Fournier (late Alcide), Marguerite Guillot (Yvon), Blanche Morin, and brothers, Maurice Morin, René Morin, Laurent Morin, and Joseph Morin.
The second youngest of twelve, Pauline grew up first in Markstay on a farm and then in the famous “red houses” of Sudbury’s Flour Mill. Pauline wanted to become a nurse, but in high school, a handsome young man named John Wayne Jalbert turned her head and soon became the main focus of her attention. While still single, Pauline worked in clothing boutiques and shoe stores and was always “dressed to the nines”. She and Wayne were married at St-Jean-de-Brebeuf on June 17, 1967. She gave birth first to a son Andre (1968-stillborn) and then to a daughter Lize in 1971. Though Pauline had previously worked in a physician’s office and in the library of the Sudbury School of Nursing, she soon stopped working to stay home and raise her daughter. The family moved out of town for 8 years so that Wayne could work out of town. During these years, Pauline and Wayne often visited and were visited by family friends, as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law and much fun was had by all, camping, boating, and enjoying evenings by the fire. She also found time to return to school and get her high school diploma.
Pauline and her family returned to Sudbury, where she completed a diploma in Administrative Studies at Cambrian College, eventually retiring after a successful career as an administrative assistant for Doering & Brown.
In later life, Pauline’s main focus was helping to manage her husband’s health, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. On Thursdays, she could be found “at coffee” with her sisters and brothers-in-law at the New Sudbury Shopping Centre. When she became too ill for this, she continued with marathon phone calls with her sisters. Her frequent laughter during these calls rang out, making others smile.
The family will receive friends for a funeral mass to be held at St-Jean de Brébeuf church Saturday, July 19 at 10:30. A reception will follow in the church hall, and burial at Lasalle Cemetery at 1 pm.
