Pentti Rainer Puusaari
December 02, 2020 – January 27, 1927
It is with great sadness that the family of Pentti Rainer Puusaari announce his peaceful passing on December 2, 2020, in his 94th year, at Finlandia Village in Sudbury, Ontario. Pentti will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Maila, his children Anne-Marie Beatty (George) and Pirkko-Liisa (Peg) Pinkney. Also fondly remembered by his grandchildren Liisa Sefton (Scott), Maarika Pinkney (Joey) and Alexandra Pinkney (Asher). “Tuta” will be missed by great-grandchildren Paige, Grace, and Piper Sefton.
Born January 27, 1927 in Veteli, Finland, Pentti realized his dream of a life in Canada when in April 1959 he relocated his family first to Georgetown, Ontario, and later that year to Timmins, Ontario. Much of his years in the Timmins area were spent at his beloved Barber’s Bay, in a home he built and resided with Maila for over 50 years. To him, Barber’s Bay was reminiscent of his Homeland. It become a second home and cottage to his daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. Their memories are of him fishing, gathering wood for the winter, tinkering in his garage riding his tractors, skidoos and enjoying the peace and calm of the outdoors.
Cremation has taken place at Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a future date. Those who desire may make donations in memory of Pentti to the Finlandia Village Cultural Fund, 233 Fourth Avenue Sudbury P3B 4C3.
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live”.
