Ray Ducharme

The family announces with great sorrow the sudden passing of Ray Ducharme, 63, of Dowling on Wednesday, June 1st, 2016. Son of Albert (predeceased) and Theresa (Lavigne) Ducharme of Dowling. Survived by his wife Sirpa (Tenhunen) of 37 years of Dowling, his son Tapio of Val Caron and daughter Alina Dockery (Kristian) of Sudbury. Treasured Poppa to his grandchildren Lilja and Malcolm. Loving brother to Freda Daly, Stephen (Kim), Fern (Cindy), Guy (predeceased), Danny (Bonnie), Yvonne Roy (Cleo), and Anne. As a beloved family man, he was a special son-in-law to VĂ©¤inĂ©¶ and Alli (Piispala) Tenhunen, cherished brother-in-law to Iiris (John), Rita (Peter), Tapio (predeceased) and Taina (David), and uncle, and cousin to so many. Ray retired in 2009 from Vale as a warehouseman. He spent much of his retirement helping his family and friends and excelled as a handyman, ready to jump in at a moment's notice. His unique sense of humour will be missed and never replaced. In the past 2 years, his passion has been his two young grandchildren. The streets of Dowling were often travelled by wagon or stroller as Poppa took them on special adventures. Most adventures ended with a precious bunch of wildflowers for Mummu. During the summer months, Ray was the duct tape that held the "Ducharme Trailer Park" together, a special piece of land on Windy Lake. We take comfort in knowing that Ray had a personal relationship with Jesus and he is now walking with him. He enjoyed fellowshipping with his brothers and sisters at Larchwood Bible Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 5th, 2016 at the Dowling Civic Leisure Centre from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. The service itself will begin at 2:00 pm.
