Rene Collin 1953-2025
It is with heavy hearts that our family announce the passing of Rene Collin on October 27th, 2025.
Rene was the husband of Linda (Bertuzzi) for the past 53 years. Devoted father to his three girls, Tracy (Doug), Tanya and Pamela (Don). Proud Pops to Brooke (Riley), Emma, Caleb, Keenan, Jersey (Kyle), Ethan and Aria Grace. He was also a very proud grandfather to his many granddogs!
Rene was the son of Albert and Irene Collin (predeceased). Brother of Norm (predeceased) (Jean) and Nelson (Denise). Brother-in-law to Albert (Sue), Gail, Nora (Mike), Robert (Bev), Anne-Marie (Howard) and Joey (Lynn). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Rene spent as much time as he could at his camp on Musky Bay Island on the West Arm, which his father built in the 1960's. He loved spending time and building bonds with his family, whether it was going for pontoon rides or sitting at the fire. When camping season ended he spent his weekdays curling at Copper Cliff and Coniston then meeting up with friends for a beer at the Trevi.
He was always an active and devoted father, coaching and managing his daughters' ringette teams. After they retired from sports and started their own families, he found great joy in cheering on his grandchildren at hockey, soccer, and dance. Although none of them took up curling, he was able to spend one day last year curling with all his grandchildren. As impressed as his grandkids were at his curling skills and his love of their praise, his disappointment in their ability was loud and clear!
Rene worked at Neelon Casting from its opening in 1975 to its close in 2007. In his younger years, he played baseball, loved racing cars and driving his Purple Demon.
Rene was the best dad, husband and papa. His sweet and quiet nature will be missed by all.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Trevi, located 1837 Lasalle Boulevard, Sudbury, on Monday, November 3, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
