Richard Lawrence Mullen
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of a truly wonderful man, surrounded by his loving family in Sudbury, Ontario on Monday, February 16, 2026 at his residence, a loving husband, devoted father, brother, proud grandfather, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Anna Mullen. He leaves to mourn his life partner and wife, Carol Mullen; his children, Caroline Mullen(Rod) and David Mullen (Natasha); his bonus children, Michael Roy (Kristen) and Julianna Roy (Kurtis); and his grandchildren, Katherine Lewis, Christopher Lewis, Crystal Roy, and Violet Roy. He is also survived by his brothers, Patrick and Alan Mullen, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. He was deeply proud of all of his children, two of whom were added bonuses, and of his grandchildren, who brought endless joy and laughter into his life.
Above all, he adored his wife, Carol. He often said she taught him patience, but in truth, their love was a partnership built on respect, devotion, and deep affection. Together they built a life filled with love, resilience, and treasured memories.
Whether family or friend, he showed up with patience and quiet strength. His caring nature and generous spirit touched countless lives.
Richard retired from CP Rail after 36 years of dedicated service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved time outdoors and the quiet peace of nature.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in his honor can be made directly to the Northeastern Cancer Foundation of Sudbury, or to a charity of your choice.
He will be forever missed and forever loved.
Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
