Celebration of Life
Rodney Fielding (October 20, 1937- February 27, 2025)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rodney Jack Fielding who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North Sudbury on February 27, 2025, at the age of 87 years.
We invite family and friends to a Celebration of life in honour of Rod Fielding on Saturday May 31st at 80 Gravel Drive, Hanmer, Ontario from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Rod is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Irene Fielding (Chevrette). Loving father of Todd Fielding (wife Nicole) and daughter Jennifer Shields (husband Bob). Cherished grandfather of Jonathan (Kristene), Brooklyn and James. Dear brother of Valerie Barry (Joe). Predeceased by his parents Margaret (Hall) and Garnet Fielding and his brothers Garnet Jr. and Terry Fielding.
Rod was a quick witted, charming, and engaging man. He was known for his sense of humour and photographic memory telling stories from over his lifetime in such great detail that it made you feel like you were there. He was a great conversationalist, and it did not take him long to find out a few things about you to have a story about somewhere or someone that you knew. He had a passion for prospecting, enjoying many adventures exploring properties in Northern Ontario with his beloved son Todd. Proud owner of R.J. Fielding Sand & Gravel, he always had a keen interest in geology be it mining gravel, rock collecting or exploring for gold. He enjoyed swimming and boating with his family on the shores of Lake Wahnapitae and having blueberry parties with friends and relatives at his pit. His life centered around his family, and he was very proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and enjoyed spending quality time with all of them. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and family friends.
In lieu of flowers donations to the heart and stroke foundation or kidney foundation would be appreciated.
Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North Sudbury and Crystal Crematorium.
