Roger Yvon Poulin
(12/12/52 - 9/12/25)
It is with great sorrow that the family of Roger Y. Poulin announces his passing on September 12th, 2025, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Now reunited with his beloved wife Jocelyne L.M. Bastien (March 2014), he is survived by children Renée Anne, Jean François (wife Cheryl), and Andrée Eve, as well as granddaughter, Amaria Joy.
A gifted scientist and mineral collector, Roger worked extensively in the geological exploration and mining development of the Sudbury Basin and beyond. Notably, he led mapping and diamond drilling projects in Raglan, Chile, and Guinea. Roger served as President of the Sudbury Rock & Lapidary Society and organized the Sudbury Gem and Mineral Show for decades before retiring. He owned and operated Roger’s Minerals, an online mineral business that sold specimens to private collectors, researchers, and museums worldwide.
Roger performed as a drummer from the early 1970s to the 2010s. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, fishing, and canoeing. Roger will be remembered for his love of learning, gentle strength, and quirky sense of humor.
In remembrance of Roger’s life the family asks that charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer Society. https://alzheimer.ca/sudburymanitoulin/en/take-action/donate
