Ronald Michaud
April 19th, 1942 – April 15th, 2026
It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of Ronald “Donny” Michaud, on April 15th, 2026, in Sudbury at the age of 83 years.
Ron is the son of the late Aldege and Lucille Larose (Michaud).
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carol Michaud (née Ryan). His daughter Kathleen Lalonde and his favorite son-in-law Paul. He is the loving grandfather of Andrea (Dave) Aquilina and Alexander. Amazing great grandfather of Jayden, Jordan, Liam, Penelope, Aspen, Kaden and Levi.
Ron was the only boy with 4 sisters, Diane (Alfred) Chevrette, Anita (Nolan-predeceased) Rogue, Gilberte (Dave-predeceased) Kasunich and Rachel (Willie Jr.) Guy. Also, Godfather of two beautiful ladies, Sheila Cimino and Shelley Kasunich.
Ron spent his early years in the Second Battalion Black Watch. He enrolled in the army in 1961 and was based in Gagetown, New Brunswick, then Germany for 4 years and Cyprus for 6 months. He returned to Gagetown, New Brunswick, where he met his wife.
He was discharged from the army in 1968, when he became employed at the Falconbridge Smelter for 32 years. Upon retiring, he joined the Retirees Board for Minemill Local 598. He eventually became the chairman until April 2026.
He was organizing even while he was in hospital until his last few days. Ron was ready to stand with any and all of his union brothers and sisters, when they were fighting the fight. Not only in the Sudbury area, but all of Canada.
He was an amazing man, always out and about in the community and volunteering for many different outreach programs. MAP, Children’s Telethon and Meals on Wheels, to name a few.
Ron has left us all with a huge imprint and will be sadly missed. He will be missed deeply by his family, sister-in-law’s, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Minnow Lake Legion, 1553 Weller Street, Sudbury.
Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
