Stan Punkari
July 19, 1950 – March 8, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stan Punkari, who left us peacefully at home on March 8, 2025. Born on July 19, 1950, in Sudbury, Ontario, Stan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived his life in service to his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda (nee Maki); his daughters, Kristin (Mike) and Becky (Chris); and his cherished grandchildren- Kailer (Kate), Miia, Davin and Alli.
Stan is also survived by his sister-in-law Deb (Ken-predeceased), brother Howard (Karen) and was predeceased by his brother Doug (Karen), his sister Marion (Cesar) sister-in-law Marg, and his niece and nephew, Coleen and Jason. He was a loving Uncle to his nieces and nephews: Willard, Rodney, Jon, Jen, Liisa, Kurt, and Darin, Scott and Kevin.
Stan is now lovingly reunited with his parents, Sirkka and Willard, as well as his stepfather, Frid, who passed before him. His family in Nipigon, Ontario, will all miss him, especially Uncle Archie. His sister Marion’s husband, Cesar, will also greatly miss their bond and friendship.
Stan was Mr. Fix-It, a jack of all trades who could build, renovate, and repair just about anything. His hands were always busy, whether working on a project or helping those he loved. Pinehill Lumber - the place of his first job- could also be listed as a cherished family member with their lifelong support from Stan with every renovation in every home and at his camp on Fairbank Lake.
The first thing Stan did this morning—without a doubt—had coffee with the friends who left before him. He’s sitting and catching up with Baz, Andy, Jim, and all the guys.
A lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Stan’s unwavering support for his team never faltered. This is certainly the year the Leafs will win the cup for him.
A huge thank you to the support of pharmacy staff at Your Independent Grocery, specifically Jen, as well as HSN Dr. Saadat, Dr, Mittal, and Dr. Singh, and Lindsey from Bayshore for their kindness and care.
As per his wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life is planned on Stan’s 75th birthday, July 19- location to be determined.
Stan’s legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will live on in the family he adored.
Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North and Crystal Crematorium.
