Wanda Tschop Obituary

In Loving Memory of Wanda Tschop (1956 – 2025)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Tschop (nee Kowalczyk), who left us peacefully at the age of 68 on Friday, March 21, 2025. She was a cherished wife, mother, Baba, sister, aunt, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in South Porcupine, Ontario on May 3, 1956, Wanda lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family. In 1976 in Timmins, she married the love of her life, Kostic, and together, they spent 49 years building a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support for one another. Their love and devotion are a testament to the power of partnership and an example to all who knew them.

Wanda was a woman of incredible strength and grace. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special, and her heart was as vast as her smile. Whether it was through her nurturing care of her children and grandchildren, her endless encouragement, or her thoughtful gestures toward friends and strangers alike, she left an indelible mark on all who were lucky enough to know her.

As a mother and grandmother, Wanda was the heart of her family, always ready with a word of wisdom, a helping hand, or a comforting hug. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, Tamara Tschop McLaren (Nathan) and Alexandra Dupont (Evan Shortt), her grandchildren, Jamieson, Emmeline, Reef, Delainey, Miguel, Jessicalee and Mathieu and her great-granddaughter, Serena.

Wanda found great joy in spending time with her family, loved travelling the world with her husband, and she was always the best dressed in any room that she walked into. Wanda will be dearly missed by her sisters Margaret Young; Regina Burns and Monica Delorme and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Josef Kowalczyk and Anna Salabay as well as her sister Vala Gagain. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the love and kindness she spread throughout her life.

A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor her remarkable journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, home of the Regenerative Medicine Program and life-changing stem cell research.
