Pre-Planning Services

Pre-planning as well as pre-paid services make sense. One of the most important reasons to pre-plan your final arrangements is to make your wishes known. By pre-planning, you are saving your loved ones from the pressure of making complex decisions during an already stressful and challenging time. Pre-planning allows you to determine how you would prefer to be memorialized and remembered.

During our lives, we take the time to plan many events such as birthday parties, weddings, retirement parties, vacations, so why not take the time to plan this event as well?

Plan as much or as little as you like. Pay now or pay later. The decision is yours to make.

With Simple Wishes of the North, planning is not a complicated process. Please call us to request additional information or to set up an appointment to make your arrangements.

We will take care of the following details:

The local transfer of yourself from the place of death into our care.
Meeting with your executor and/or family.
The completion of all necessary documents and death registration with the province.
Provide your executor or next of kin with proofs of death
Transportation of yourself to the local crematorium or cemetery.

Additional Services (optional)

If your family requires our assistance at a memorial service or a graveside committal service, we are legally able to assist them and would be pleased to do so. If your family members or friends would like a few moments to say goodbye prior to the cremation or burial, that option is also available.

*Please note: Embalming services and public visitations are not offered by Simple Wishes of the North, as our primary focus is to provide simple and affordable services to the families that we have the privilege of assisting.

Documents You Will Need

Simple Wishes of the North, coroners, government agencies and other officials will need the following information to allow us to proceed with the arrangement process:

Birth date and birthplace of your loved one
Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Father’s name and place of birth
Mother’s maiden name and place of birth

Should you choose to place an obituary in a newspaper with our assistance, the following would be helpful to bring with you:

Photo (optional)
List of relatives

Common Question

? If I have already prearranged my services with another funeral service provider, is it possible to cancel those previously made arrangements and set up new arrangements with Simple Wishes of the North?

A Yes, pre-arranged funeral services can be cancelled with any provider in Ontario. Your current provider does have the option of charging you a cancellation fee. Still, those fees are regulated by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and are not excessive, in our opinion. Our Licensed Funeral Director can provide you with more details about this option.
